Safety and undo

A run writes parameter values — that is all it changes. This page says what that means on a live model, and how to take a run back.

What a run changes

  • Parameter values of the elements the ticked operations cover, in the chosen scope: the whole model, the active view or the selection.
  • Worksets, only through Move to Workset.

What a run never touches

  • Geometry — nothing is moved, resized, created or deleted.
  • Parameters themselves — none is created, renamed or bound; FlexiData fills those that exist.
  • Linked models — never written to.
  • Read-only parameters and elements another user holds in a workshared model — skipped and listed in the report.
  • On request, elements in groups, in assemblies or pinned — the Exclusions in the Executor's settings.

Before it writes

The Executor checks the file against the model: a target parameter missing on a category, a category with nothing in scope, an area scheme that does not exist. You see the findings and decide: Cancel or Proceed anyway.

Pipes and fittings Revit already flags as disconnected are set aside, and the Executor asks before writing to them.

Undo

  • Undo this run in the report takes back everything the run wrote, in one step.
  • After the report is closed, the run is one entry in Revit's Undo list — Ctrl+Z in Revit takes it back.
  • Undo is not offered after Synchronize with Central after the run: the changes are already in the central model.

Workshared models

  • Skip elements edited by others leaves elements another user owns alone instead of trying and failing; the report lists them, and Export report writes them to a CSV file to send to that person.
  • Check out worksets first takes every user workset nobody else holds before the run.
  • Synchronize with Central before / after the run, and Delay start for a long run after everyone has gone home — see Run settings.

A careful first run

On a model you do not know yet: run on the Selection or the Active view first, read the report, then run on the whole model. The Operation details show every setting of an operation someone else wrote before you run it.
